Two days ago we received two live seahorses from the community that had been caught by a Crab net fishing boat, the crew of the boat tried to sell the Seahorses to the village but on seeing them they were confiscated and brought to our project base. We kept the two seahorses overnight in our marine holding tank to allow them to recover from their traumatic ordeal.
At first we did not believe that either one would survive, with the pregnant male seemingly suffering the worst and both just lying in the tank on their sides breathing heavily and looking sick. In the morning though they both looked better with the pregnant male looking fully recovered and very active.
James returned them both to a small safe area we created for shelter.
We hope they have survived the ordeal and that they have found a safe natural habitat to recover fully in.
