On the 2nd of January 2011 our team witnessed the butchering of a Dolphin in Sihanoukville, The Dolphin was caught by a fishing boat from Sihanoukville and then butchered on arrival at the port.
Fisheries officials were informed but it was too late for the Dolphin.
The numbers of Dolphin sightings between Kampong Som and the Islands of Koh Rong Samloem and Koh Rong and dramatically decreased over the last 4 years.

Even with clear sign boards showing endangered marine species clearly in place around the fishing port and Fisheries laws relating to endangered species in place, Turtles, Dugongs, Dolphins and Seahorses are still caught, killed and traded in Cambodia along with the collection of Giant Clams, Turbo Shells and Commercial Tops for sale, consumption and trade.
Fisheries officials are trying to tackle the problem but with limited resources and a huge coastline to cover the decline of Cambodia's already endangered marine species continues.......
