Marine Conservation Cambodia has been supporting the Community of Koh Rong Samloem Island Marine Patrols since 2008. On the 24th of April the community patrols finally caught a group of vietnamese fishermen that have plagued the area for over 4 years. At 11:45pm their small boat was heard entering the conservation area and the community patrol team assembled and set off to intercept their vessel. As they approached, the illegal fishermen attempted to escape but were caught redhanded in the act of collecting endangered giant clams, commercial tops and other marine species from the conservation area.
