Cambodia is located on the Gulf of Thailand and lies directly between Thailand and Vietnam within a pleasant tropical region hosting an incredible biodiversity of terrestrial and aquatic species. Many of the diverse marine habitats are still undiscovered. Cambodia's coastal beauty can be enjoyed along its 435 kilometer coastline including the provinces of Koh Kong, Kampong Saom (Sihanoukville), Kampot, and Kep. And whilst visiting some of the 60+ islands that surround its coast.

Morning colors on Koh Rong Samloem

Cambodia's marine environment contains one of the world's largest sea grass areas located along the coast in the provinces of Kampot and Kep. Long stretches of primary mangroves around Koh Kong province and preah Sihanouk province, fringing coral reefs along the edges of coastal mainland and around the numerous islands within Cambodian waters. Not to forget the sandy bottom areas in between the islands that are crucial breeding grounds to many species such as cuttlefish, shellfish, and seahorses.

Among the 62 virgin islands of which most are deserted there are many important islands: Koh Kapsi, Koh Kong, Koh Sdach (Koh Kong province), Koh Rung, Koh Rung Samleom, Koh Koun, Koh Russey, Koh Takiev (Sihanoukville province), Koh Ses, (Kampot province) and Koh Tunsay (Kep), Koh Prins, Koh Tang and Koh Polowaii. Currently our team is active at the islands located within preah sihanouk municipality on the island of koh rung samleom but takes every oppertunity  to explore the outer islands to discover the new and unexplored areas.

Sustainable, Traditional fishing on koh Rong Samloem

Our main project base is located on the island of Koh Rung Samleom where we have been working closely with Koh Rung Samleom village since the beginning of 2008. Together with the community we assist in implement traditional, and at the same time alternative fishing methods to maintain the fish stocks for the 250+ villagers living on the island. Simultaneously, environmental awareness and a pride in the environment is created among villagers, and local school children are educated to achieve a sustainable way of living while together with the environment.
