Our partnership with Projects Abroad came about after a meeting with Suzi Lamb back in september 2008, whilst she was looking for new projects around SE Asia.
Marine Conservation Cambodia was in its very early stages, what came from the meeting was an oppertunity for both Projects Abroad and Marine Conservation Cambodia to work together to support the community and the conservation programs.
Projects Abroad have helped greatly in the development of MCC, directly providing volunteers to carry out the conservation and community work and assisting with finances for the projects.
With Projects Abroads help MCC has been able to increase local employment directly benefiting the community. The community has also benefited indirectly through the assistance the volunteers provide on a regular basis and the extra income generated when they purchase items from the local community, some new businesses have opened just because there is now a more regular demand, due to the increasing numbers of volunteers.
